Refuge Foundation (“Refuge,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates refugefoundation.org. Refuge is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. Our text-message practices are also described in our SMS Terms of Service.

Information we collect

• Information you give us through our trip registration, waitlist, contact, newsletter, and post-trip survey forms: such as your name, email address, mobile phone number, mailing address, emergency contact, trip details, allergy or special-needs information you choose to share, and your message. Donations are processed through our giving platform, Givebutter.
• Information collected automatically when you visit our site, such as your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages you view, through cookies and similar tools from services we use, including HubSpot and Google reCAPTCHA.

How we use information

To register you for trips and keep you safe on-site, respond to your questions, send our newsletter and other messages you have asked for, process and acknowledge donations, send donation reminders you have requested, and run and improve our website and programs.

Text messages (SMS)

We only send donation reminder texts to guests who request a giving reminder in our post-trip survey and separately agree to receive text messages. We do not send general marketing updates or trip promotions by text. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us operate, including HubSpot (forms, contact management, email, and text messaging), Mailchimp (newsletter), and Givebutter (donations), and where required by law or to protect safety. Our site may also show content from other companies, such as Vimeo videos, and links to our online store, which are covered by those companies’ own policies.

All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, excluding aggregators and providers of the Text Message services.

Your choices

Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send, or reply STOP to any text. To ask to access, correct, or delete your information, contact us below.
